David Goggins is a former Navy Seal who figured out how to challenge everything that he feared in life. He overcame so many obstacles, without excuses. He’s the guy who would throw his running shoes on when it started snowing, just to confront himself. Every challenge he conquered required him to step outside of his comfort zone.
Of course, we’re all going to have different goals and challenges than David, but we can all take away the importance of breaking out of your comfort zone. The first thing we need to do is get honest with ourselves. Get clear on your goals and be honest with what’s holding you back. It can feel very vulnerable to be so direct with yourself, but this will allow you to see where your comfort zone boundaries lie!
Scenario #1
Let’s say your goal is to attract more clients by using social media channels, but you don’t like promoting yourself and your business. Now that you know your goal and fear, it’s time to discover how to push your boundaries. The good news is when you start putting your brand out there for the world to see, you get to decide how much of yourself you want to include in your content. You definitely do not need to overshare, but adding a personal touch can be really beneficial. People really respond well to authenticity. Try pushing your comfort zone by posting the story of why you started your business!
Scenario #2
Maybe your goal is to reach a wider audience, but you don’t know the first thing about social media, and you have other parts of your business that you would rather focus on. Something that you can work on is delegation. Being able to trust someone to capture the essence of the brand can put you out of your comfort zone just as much as creating the content yourself.
Now that you have read two scenarios, you might have a better idea of how you can get out of your comfort zone in your business.
You know what they say – “life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.
